Honoring Craig Spooner’s life, legacy, and love for the mountain
Craig Spooner dedicated more than fifty years of his life to Snowbird, generously sharing his love of skiing, teaching, and the mountain with generations of students, guests, and colleagues.
From his earliest days as one of Snowbird’s first instructors, Craig brought warmth, humor, authenticity, and care to everyone he taught. He helped people feel more confident on snow, more connected to the mountain, and more at home in the Snowbird community.
The Spooner Memorial Mountain School Scholarship Fund was created in his honor to help develop master teachers and guides within Snowbird Mountain School. Each year, the scholarship will support a dedicated instructor or guide as they deepen their craft and carry forward Craig’s spirit of teaching, mentorship, and genuine connection.
